Holes In The Head

Today the girls got their ears pierced. I wasn't allowed to have mine done until I was twelve. I am not really sure what the logic was behind that. However, we as parents agreed that we would not have them done until, and only if, the children asked for them. Yesterday, Hope firmly decided she was ready. Savannah must have figured that it just wasn't going to do for her younger sister to have her ears pierced before her so she decided she wanted hers done also.
This is yet another milestone reminding me of how fast they are growing up. I think for their upcoming birthdays we should get them each a tiny pair of diamond studs. Savannah has her eye on some 14kt. gold dolphins that match a pendant she has. Hope takes after her mother though and wants something along the lines of diamonds. They both did really well, much better than any other little girls present today. Shockingly Savannah went first and had little more to say about the whole thing except "Ouch that hurt" and that was about it. I was very shocked. Savannah is usually the drama queen and not much for pain tolerance. Hope shed one or two huge tears immediately after and then quickly decided she was also very happy she did it and both spent the rest of the day asking me over and over if they were still there as they have been instructed not to mess with them so they don't get infected. Both also keep asking us if they are beautiful to which we reply that they were already beautiful without them and then they coax us into proclaiming that their earrings add even more to their already stunning beauty. Girls.
Logan opted out of having his done. Maybe someday he will get some 12 gauge captive bead rings. Maybe not. If he does we just happen to have a set lying around, that is if his father doesn't have them put into his ears first which could happen as he has been talking about it. Either way the offer has been made and if he ever decides to do it we will take him.
We took them to see Racing Stripes and dinner out afterward. It was a full and fairly costly day.
